IT WAS ON the 13th December that that the cill on a Leeds & Liverpool lock was found to be broken and the navigation closed.

This was on the Newlay Top Lock, nearly three months ago, as Keith Gudgin reported.

Yet, reason after reason has been given, but still no work started on the actual work of repair, that from past broken cills will take a month further to undertake.

Finalised

A repair plan was finalised on the 14th February with a promise of work starting this Monday 3rd March, but alas still nothing has occurred.

The reason given now for not starting work is that 'we have been unable to access the work area safely'.

The question is—will it be undertaken by the start of the 'season'?
