THE ATHERSTONE FLIGHT on the Coventry Canal was closed yesterday, Wednesday.

atherstone top lock aThis was owing to a paddle stuck open on the top lock, closing navigation, Keith Gudgin reports.

A team was on site yesterday, but were unable to rectify the fault on its towpath side paddle with the navigation remaining closed.

Stop planks

With the installation of stop planks, today, it is hoped that access to the fault will be discovered.

And providing this can be rectified the flight can again be reopened.

There was a similar fault with the top lock of the flight last year, its paddle being jammed, but was soon cleared.

LATEST—Fault rectified and flight reopened.
