THE ROCHDALE CANAL was closed on the 7th May between locks 12 and 14.
This was due to lack of water, Keith Gudgin reports.
Blaming boaters
With Canal and River Trust blaming boaters, it telling:
We are currently experiencing low water levels on the Rochdale canal due to incorrect boater operation of the lock system.
It went on to remark that this has caused a significant loss of water from the two pounds, with the team working to stabilise levels.
How was it known to be boaters
But boaters however must surely wonder how it was known that boaters caused the lack of water? For surely the only people there would have been those boaters who supposedly caused the lack of water....
