THERE HAS BEEN VARIOUS CLOSURES of waterways during the last couple of days.
With Keith Gudgin reporting the various stoppages, the first two being through lack of water.
Navigation is closed on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal between Lock 87 and Lock 89. Due, we are told, to low water levels.
Due to limited water resources, we are told the navigation is currently closed between Lock 1 and Lock 6 on the Glasson Branch of the Lancaster Canal. (Here's our picture of part of the paddle system of the first lock.)
This completely closing the branch, but there is a chance that boats can leave the branch should they contact the trust.
And still another canal without water—the Rochdale.
This has a navigation closure on the pound between Lock 25 and Lock 26 as the water levels are too low for passage. We are told the local team are increasing the feed from the land drain. The water was so low that the the cills were able to be scraped to make a tighter seal.
