THE HUDDERSFIELD NARROW was closed yesterday, as repairs are needed.
These are to repair a retaining wall on Lock 6E, Paddock Foot Lock, Keith Gudgin reports.
Yet the contractors need two full weeks to undertake this, a fairly simple job. With the lock closed for two Mondays' to Fridays'.

It is the offside retaining wall that needs the repair.
The Canal & River Trust advise that this is being done now, and added to the winter works list, to save possible failure during the actual boating season.
