IT WAS  ON THE 17th March that the Leeds & Liverpool Canal was closed.

Our being told due to to severely low water, Keith Gudgin reported. This was on the pound between locks 90 at Gathurst 91.

But today the 27th—ten days later—the pound still remains closed because of low water level.

Weir boards

And to help regain the level a Canal & River Trust team are planning to install weir boards into the canal to improve the water levels.

How this will work however is not told.

With the water level not rising over such a long period, though being fed, It would seem a leak is the problem.
