SEARCH TEAMS LOOKING for a young man who went missing after entering the water of the Thames, have found him.

William 23, was seen in difficulty after entering the water at Buscot Lock near Faringdon on Saturday night, Janet Friend reports.

Search and rescue teams with dogs and the National Police Air Service, were called in to search, but there was no sighting on the Saturday.

When the search was restarted the following day, yesterday, Sunday, his body was discovered in the river.

Formal identification has not yet taken place, but the authorities believe this to be William, and his next of kin have been informed.

Not believed to be suspicious

An investigation will be conducted on behalf of the Oxfordshire Coroner, but the death is not believed  to be suspicious.

It was told that William was with a group of friends at Buscot Lock when he got into difficulty. His friends tried to retrieve him from the water, but the current caught him so they were unable to do so.
