IT WAS THE SIGNIFICANT loss of water overnight on the Shropshire Union Canal that has closed the navigation.
This is at culvert 16 between Knolles Bridge to Bridge 133 and Backford Bridge 131, Keith Gudgin reports.
Between Chester and Ellesmere Port
This has caused a significant loss of water in the long pound between Chester and Ellesmere Port. (Pictured.)
We are told that both a specialist team and engineers have been working on site to reduce any further water loss, with dams being installed today around the leak.
This will allow investigation of the problem and planning repairs.
Attend to the ropes
The trust advises boat owners who have their boat moored in the pound and are not staying aboard to visit and check their mooring ropes, as the loss of water will have an effect with ropes having to be loosened.
