THERE IS NO NAVIGATION through Thurmaston Lock on the Leicester Section of the Grand Union Canal.
There is a bees' nest in a nearby tree that is preventing it! Keith Gudgin reports.
Bees nest
At first it was a fallen tree that one of our contributors told was blocking the navigation by the lock, but this had eventually been cleared, but a "large bees' nest was found", the trust relates, so the lock is closed to navigation.
But the towpath is not, which is strange, knowing visitors' importance to the trust.
The lock remains closed until a bee keeper is sourced to safely remove the nest.
Mercia
Perhaps a call to Mercia Marina where they have bees (that swarm) and beekeepers as one of its interests for moorers.
