YET ANOTHER MONEY RAISING SCHEME by Canal & River Trust is to charge for any help it gives to waterway restoration groups.
Restoration Delivery Plan
Under the title Restoration Delivery Plan, the trust intends to charge £40 an hour for any help/advice/work it gives to restoration groups, Rodney Hardwick reports.
This means that if a group calls in the Canal & River Trust for anything to do with the actual restoration, the group will be charged £40 per hour.
This is scheduled to start on 1st April and will apply to all work on trust managed restorations that require any help from the trust.
Asking IWA to help
Volunteers are asking the Inland Waterway Association to take up this matter as the restoration groups will likely find themselves in the position that they either pay-up or stop work.
It is hardly conductive in encouraging people to volunteer on a canal restoration work if the association organising it has to pay out for the work from Canal & River Trust that is often necessary.
