THE BRIDGEWATER CANAL is still set to by fully repaired by December of this year.

BridgewaterBreach2It's owners, the Bridgewater Canal Company, stated when the breach occurred at Little Bollington on New Year's Day 2025, it would take two years to repair.

It has confirmed that is still the case, and it would aiming to have the canal fully reopened to navigation, by December 2026.

Cheshire Ring

This of course includes the Cheshire Ring that will have also obviously been closed for the two years.

The initial consultations on repair design have begun, and it hopes to appoint an engineering consultancy in the coming months.

Around £300,000 has already been invested in stabilising the banks canal following the breach. The company will now safely remove the temporary portadams that will increase the navigation by half a mile.
