THE OBSTRUCTION BLOCKING THE USE of Keadby River gates has been removed.
Though the river gates are now workable the top gates onto the Stainforth & Keadby Canal are not, Keith Gudgin reports.
Restricrted passage
This means that there is restricted passage only when the Trent tide is higher than the canal, when the gates can be operated.
Boaters wanting passage must contact the lock keeper to discuss any prospective bookings with at least 48 hours' notice to discuss dates and times when passage will be possible, considering tide heights and times. The image shows the top gates when we went off the tide onto the canal.
It was an obstruction of the downstream gates that was preventing them closing and creating a seal, that has been removed, so the river gates are operational.

However there is still a leaking culvert that needs repair that will require a stoppage.
