Here we go again


The depressing sight of Tyrley Top Lock on the Shropshire Union Canal closed up to traffic this morning (Friday) because of the problems at Shebdon Embankment. Since the water to feed all of the locks from here to Nantwich has to come past Shebdon, BW have actually remembered to close the locks to stop the pound between here and Knighton being drained, Richard Hall tells us, and with his picture.  The problem is quite serious, and contractors are having to be called in to repair the canal bed.
