FARNDON MARINA on the Trent at Newark is for sale for the first time in its history.
This comes at a time when the owners, Janet Ainsworth and her son Paul are retiring and putting the business up for sale, Janet Friend reports.
In the same hands
The marina has been in the same hands since it was first opened in 1966 by Janet and her husband Mark, who died 16 years ago with their son then taking his place.
But the two are now putting the marina up for sale, with Janet telling they have consistently invested in improving the facilities and customer experience, have a fantastic team, who continue to be great assets to the marina, adding:
"We too are at that time in our lives where it makes sense to pass the reigns to new owners. I’ve been contacted many times over the years asking if we would sell, and so this tremendous opportunity now becomes a reality."
Many opportunities
The agents, Christie and Co, that are overseeing the sale believe the site offers many opportunities in addition to its 300 berths.
It suggesting it could become a holiday park as it has the space for floating lodges, that are becoming very popular, with Sawley Marina introducing them some two years ago (pictured) and Mercia Marina having many land-based lodges.
The agents believe that as this marina has never been offered for sale on the open market it is a unique opportunity.
