WITH THE NOTTINGHAM BASIN cleared of boats, it is going to be filled-in for houses to be built.
The plans were to build 111 houses, Janet Friend reports.
But with the lack of parking space that all these houses would require, the Nottingham City Council is only allowed to build 76 houses and to create a multi-storey parking facility.
These will cover the basin and surrounding land.
Changed the scheme
The earlier scheme, that was approved in 2003, was for a mix of 58 family houses and 52 maisonettes, but the developer has changed it to a scheme comprised entirely of family-sized housing.
This is all part of the Waterside Regeneration zone, that has already taken mooring spaces, with people not wanting boats moored outside their houses.
