THOUGH THE BOAT TRIPS on the Montgomery Canal in Llanymynech have been suspended, the visitor centre is still open.

BoatTripsStoppedThe boat trips were cancelled as the George Watson Buck narrowboat on the Montgomery Canal is in need of refurbishment, Janet Friend reports.

So weekend boat trips are suspended throughout this year.

Open at weekends

But the Montgomery Waterway Restoration Trust tells that the visitor centre will remain open at weekends offering light refreshments, canal exhibition and gift shop.

The trust recently received a generous donation for £500 towards refurbishment from The Cabin in Llandrinio, so are looking to use that to help us improve the boat for the future.

The visitor centre is in a historic stable block and is regarded as an ideal spot for locals and visitors to the area to find out more about the heritage and wildlife of the Montgomery Canal.
