A NARROWBOAT has been deserted across the Oxford Canal stopping navigation.

This is below Hawkesbury Junction on the waterway, Janet Friend reports.

SunkOxfordThe boat has obviously sunk, but for some unknown reason it it right across the waterway between bridges 4 and 5 as the Oxford leaves the junction.

No one aboard

West Midlands Fire Service tell that it was called to the canal yesterday, Sunday, to search the partly sunken narrowboat to see if anyone was aboard, but this proved negative.

It further told that the boat had been there since Saturday, partially submerged and at an angle across the waterway, blocking the canal.

The fire service also tell that Canal & River Trust had been informed. Image is by West Midland Fire Service.
