BOTH THE BREACHES on the Macclesfield Canal have been repaired.

And the navigation will be open at 12 noon today, Wednesday, Keith Gudgin reports.

MaccBreach2Completely repaired

The breach between Bridge 26 and Bridge 27 at Bollington, is completely repaired and the stop planks removed and water being let down to provide navigation.

The further breach between Bridge 51, Cowley Bridge and Bosley Lock 12, Macclesfield Canal has also been repaired and again the waterway will re-open at 12 noon today.

And to clear the stoppages on the Macclesfield Canal, the sink hole at Lock 3 has also been repaired.

Connection with the northern canals

So at last there is now a connection for boaters between the northern canals and the rest of the system.

The Bridgewater Company still has a breach and Network Rail has still not repaired Vazons sliding rail bridge at Keadby, so there is no access with those navigations.
