IN ADDITION TO three new closures on the Grand Union Canal there are five section restrictions elsewhere on this canal that will come into force on the 6th July. (Later the trust tells the 9th July.)
Closures
The three latest closures on the Grand Union as Keith Gudgin reports:
Lock 58 at Cowroast with the lock inoperable.
Clitheroes Lock 9 with a 'blown cill'.
Itchington Bottom Lock 13, with the failure of the collar on offside bottom gate.
Then we are told that following the driest spring in a century, water levels in some of our reservoirs have dropped. To help conserve the remaining water, from Wednesday 9th July it will be restricting usage of the following sections of this waterway, that will hopefully be open from 8am to 2pm for the last boat:
Five restrictions
1. Braunston Lock 1 and Top Lock 6. 2. Kibworth Top Lock 18 to Kings Lock 38. 3. Stoke Bruerne Locks 14 to 20. 4. Buckby Top Lock 7 to Buckby Lock 13. 5. Northampton Arm Lock 1 to Lock 17.
