THE LOCO LIFT BRIDGE on the Huddersfield Broad Canal is still not repaired.
But repairs are being made, Keith Gudgin reports.
Four months to repair
When it last failed in November of last year it took four months to repair, with various items thought to be the the problem, so replaced—even one coming from Germany—but to no avail.
When it was eventually back in action in March, it was not told what the actual problem was.
But whatever it was, it has only lasted for three months before failing again, so really points to the people undertaking the work just not knowing what they were doing.
Boat allowed through
During the last failure of the lift bridge there were occasional times when boats were allowed through, it being operated by hand, but there is no intimation of that happening this time.
