AFTER A CORDON was set up by the Rochdale Canal in Manchester the body of a man was pulled from the water.

This was after a search team descended on the canal and police set up a cordon, Keith Gudgin reports.

Diver took part

Divers took part in the operation to get the man out of the water whilst the towpath and waterway was cordoned off.

The man is yet to be identified with enquiries ongoing but his death is not currently believed to be suspicious, Greater Manchester Police explained..

Forensic investigators were gathering evidence in bags by the canal later on Sunday night.
