RUSHALL LOCK FLIGHT of nine locks on the Rushall Canal was closed this morning, Thursday.

We are told this is to 'protect the broader network', Keith Gudgin reports.

RushallLockFlightCanal & River Trust give the now usual reason  of the exceptionally dry weather and its impact on water resources, that it has made the difficult decision to temporarily close the Rushall Canal to navigation.

Limited options

The decision has been taken in response to the existing closure of the Perry Barr Lock Flight, which has limited through navigation options in the area.

With closing the Rushall Canal it tells it is able to help preserve vital water resources on the Wolverhampton Flight and maintain navigation elsewhere on the network for as long as possible.
