ANOTHER LOCK FLIGHT is closed through lack of water as boats are becoming grounded.
This is the Minworth Locks Flight on the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal, Keith Gudgin reports.
Free from water shortages
This particular flight has been free from water shortages in the past, but is now, with boats being ground through lack of depth.
Though water is supplied by a pump that pumps water back up the flight, this is giving trouble and its repairs have not been successful.
The trust tells that replacement parts for the pump are scheduled to be installed next Tuesday, and it is hoped that the repairs will then solve the problem by improving the water supply. The image is of Minworth Top Lock.
Will improve performance
We anticipate that these works will improve the pump's performance and overall water management.
Assistance from the trust's on-call team may be necessary for the grounded boats.
