CANAL & RIVER TRUST advise that both the Marple Flight on the Macclesfield and the Bosley Flight are set to be closed.
In accordance with what seems its new policy, the trust is giving prior warning of closures, Keith Gudgin reports.
It tells that it needs to suspend navigation through the Marple and Bosley lock flights from Monday 11th August 2025.
No significant refilling
This has been brought about because, despite some rainfall, the reservoirs that supply the Macclesfield and Peak Forest canals have not seen any significant refilling.
So should there be no significant rainfall in the meantime both navigations will be closed.
These are locks 1 to 12 on the Macclesfield Canal and 1 to 16 on the Peak Forest Canal that will be closed on Monday the 11th August.
