BOATERS REQUIRING to use the Leicester Section of the Grand Union Canal are advised to do so before next Tuesday 29th July.
The entire waterway
This is the entire waterway from Watford Lock 1 to Kings Lock 38 where it joins the Soar, Keith Gudgin reports.
This includes both the major flights of Watford (pictured) and Foxton plus the locks up to Leicester where it joins the river.
The trust tells that boaters will be free to cruise along the 22 miles pound between these flights!
It tells it will be constantly reviewing the situation and as soon as conditions improve enough, will do its upmost to provide temporary windows of passage through locks to allow boat movement.
Dependent on water levels improving
But this will be dependent on water levels improving adequately which is likely to require sufficient and prolonged rain over several weeks, rather than a sudden very heavy downpour.
