ALL SYSTEMS GO INDEED as work goes ahead on the new development at Mercia Marina.
Named the Promenade, work has started in earnest on the development, with pilings and footings well under way as a start to the building work.
Buildings demolished
All the previous buildings have been demolished with the popular Willow Tree café being relocated, as has the marina office.
The Promenade will include three new retail units, an additional restaurant and 15 apartments—many already reserved by long-time visitors who so admire the marina. The artist's illustration shows the new Promenade building.
This design-led building will link the Boardwalk and Piazza, completing a hub of interest for everyone to enjoy and very importantly, replace the tired and falling apart marina office and the adjacent buildings. In addition to brighter and better premises for the Willow Tree that will return to near its original place.
Started in earnest
Construction started in earnest this year with demolition of existing buildings and full-scale work on the foundations starting when they were cleared.
The Marina Reception has temporarily moved upstairs on the Boardwalk. The following image shows the situation yesterday, Tuesday.
