THE RIVERSIDE FESTIVAL that was to be held at Nottingham from tomorrow, Friday, has been cancelled.
Victoria Embankment
This was to be held on the Victoria Embankment by the Trent in the city from Friday to Sunday, Janet Friend reports.
This means that all the boaters who have already gathered will have little option but to leave.
It appears that Mellor's Funfair had cancelled at the last minute, so the council decided the event would not be worth holding.
This comes after the city council, organising the event, stripped it back last year as the council effectively declared itself bankrupt, with a spokesman stating that this cancellation was 'extremely disappointing'.
Boaters
The festival by the river was first held in 1973, and was popular amongst boaters, with many boats attending.
The Riverside Festival previously cost around £75,000 to stage which included fireworks and a boat race.
