THE CANAL & RIVER TRUST is now giving the height of the low water levels.
This is regarding River Lock 1 and upstream of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, Keith Gudgin reports.
It telling that the water level is now up to -151mm, this meaning it is less than six inches down.
Closed
Less than six inches down has been the state of many canals we have travelled, but is this case it is closed, with the trust telling—we are unable to confirm when the lock will reopen. Water levels are being monitored, and we will provide updates as soon as further information becomes available.
Boaters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and avoid this section of the canal until the lock is operational.
