THE BEES THAT were restricting navigation on the Leicester Section have gone.
The swarm took to the fallen tree between Thurmaston Lock and Bridge 17, Keith Gudgin reports.
This was on the 20th July with Canal & River Trust deciding the bees were a safety hazard with the tree also preventing wide beams from easily passing.
Pass slowly
The trust advised narrowboats to pass slowly and with caution.
The trust advertised for a beekeeper to remove the swarm, but none were found so it was a matter of waiting until they flew off.
This has happened so the navigation is now cleared.
