TempleFootbridgeClosed since May 2023

The Environment Agency is planning to remove part of Temple Footbridge near Marlow over the river, which has been closed since May 2023 after it was discovered to be unsafe during an inspection.

But the Inland Waterways Association has called the closure excessive and claimed the bridge could be removed within 48 hours.

However, the Environment Agency tell the river will be closed from Temple Footbridge, upstream of Temple Lock, between 10th September and 8th October.

Remove central span

With contractors expected to remove the central span of the bridge during the works.

The Inland Waterways Association called on the Environment Agency to postpone the removal, publish a clear timetable and firm commitment for the bridge repair and allow limited daily passage for boaters.
