THE CANAL CLOSURES are really stacking-up now.
In just five days time the Northampton Arm of the Grand Union Canal will be closed from 4pm next Wednesday 20th August, Keith Gudgin reports.
This means the entire locks from 1 to 17 will be closed to navigation.
Nine flights still closed
All the lock flights on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal—all nine of them, are still closed to navigation, and now the possibility of individual locks being closed. With River Lock 1 the first to be closed again.
A 'leak' causes closure of the Rochdale Canal from Lock Sowerby Bridge to Lock 19 Todmorden. With the chance of boats to leave through Tuel Hill Flight next Monday 18th from 9am to 3pm.
Also on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal Poolstock Lock 1 closure on the Leight Branch has been extended to Bamfurlong Bridge 3 due to a third party leak.
