THE MUSEUM OF MAKING in Derby was flooded two years ago and so has applied to install new flood defences.
The museum next to the Derwent, was closed for three months after torrential rain from the swollen river in October 2023 left it with about 70cm of flood water inside.
Being insured, payment was made out to help the museum get back into business.
Happening again
But officials are afraid of it happening again so have submitted a plan to Derby City Council for localised flood barriers across three internal doors and one external door, to keep water out of the building.
Official telling the council that the flooding disrupted commercial activity and with the kitchens the worst affected.
