THE KENNET & AVON CANAL is at present closed by a boat fire.
This has left the boat partially submerged blocking the navigation, Keith Gudgin reports.
This is between Greenham Lock 86 and Ham Lock 87 at Newbury, our told that the operations team will assess the site on Monday 18th August with a view to re-opening the canal as soon as possible.
Stainforth & Keadby Canal
The Stainforth & Keadby Canal is also closed at Thorne Lock.
The upstream gate sensor has developed a fault and requires replacement, which will not allow for self operation of the lock at present. It is expected that engineers will attend on Monday 18th August to asses the situation.
