THE WATER LEVELS between Stourport, Bridge 4 and Kidderminster, Lock 6 have been raised.

The Staffs & Worcs Canal navigation is now open, Keith Gudgin reports.

However boaters are asked to proceed with caution when travelling through this section, as, although conditions have improved, water levels remain lower than usual and may still pose challenges for deeper-drafted boats.

Stainforth & Keadby Canal

Medge Hall Swing Bridge at Crowle on the Stainforth & Keadby Canal that was closed on Wednesday has been repaired.

It is now open to boat traffic.

Rochdale Canal

Todmorden Guillotine Lock on the Rochdale Canal should be reopened next Wednesday 27th August.

The guillotine gate wire ropes and associated components have been changed, we are told, but there are additional works still taking place to ensure the safe use of the guillotine lock once it is open.

Once completed then the scaffolding will be removed and the trust is hoping that the lock will be repaired and functional on the 27th August.
