THE BRIDGE COLLAPSING over the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal was earlier than we published.
With Adrian Koe telling us the bridge collapsed before 9th August when he took this picture, and not the 18th August as we published, the date given by Canal & River Trust, for which we are most sorry.
National Grid
This is the cable bridge that collapsed closing the navigation and towpath, with its clearance being in the hands of the National Grid.
When we published the article on the 20th August it was told a crane would be needed to lift the remains of the bridge, but this was unable to take place 'owing to unforeseen logistical challenges', the National Grid told.
The bridge has now to be dismantled and lowered onto the scaffold for safe removal, that was estimated to take a month.
