FROM THIS MORNING, 3rd September, Fradley locks are under restrictions.
This is from Hunts Lock 15 to Shadehouse Lock 19, Keith Gudgin reports.
Passage will now only be allowed from 10am to 3pm daily, with last boat at 2pm.
Leaking for weeks
Even though boaters, us included, have complained about the loss of water on the pound to Shadehouse and Roger Baker writing that having chatted with people letting water down it seems that this practice has been going on for some weeks—as the pound leaks—Canal & River Trust does not admit this.
It telling— 'This measure is necessary due to ongoing water losses resulting from paddles being left open after use. These actions have significantly reduced water levels, particularly in the Fazeley pound, which, due to its size and limited feed, takes considerable time to recover'.
But blaming boaters for leaving paddles open when the reason is continuous leakage is simply an excuse.
