These people who break the rules over moorings have no cause to do so, writes Rob Halladay.
For the last seven years of our time on the canals we had several moorings, none of which were official residential moorings.
We were low income early retirees through health problems. We were informed that we could get housing benefit.
The first was Fradley Junction. I applied for it and had letter asking for boat licence invoice.
Thinking this was for proof of ownership I took it in and was surprised to receive the information that they also paid for the boat licence as well.
These people have no excuse to flaunt the rules unless they are deliberately trying to or they are so thick they can't be bothered to find out. Also at the last moorings that we had they also paid the council tax.
