BOATERS ON THE LLANGOLLEN CANAL are having it a bit rough these days.

WrenburyLiftBridgeAnd this is following the closures caused by the breach, Keith Gudgin reports.

For yet again we have lift bridge problems that is going to close the waterway for a week.

It is the Wrenbury Lift Bridge and it needs a week for contractors to repair the handle mechanism, that started yesterday, Friday 9th and will take until Friday (of course) the 16th.

No longer a swing bridge

But at least it is no longer called a swing bridge, as it has been for years by the Canal & River Trust people, but now called Wrenbury Frith Bridge—whatever that defines, but alas no explanation.

This bridge had a poor record for last year, being closed to navigation on the 8th March, 20th March, 11th April, 4th September, 8th October and 19th November.  Though a couple were barrier smashes.
