A REPAIR HAS NOW BEEN confirmed for the a repair method for the gate paddles at Lock 4.

This is on the Glasson Branch of the Lancaster Canal, Keith Gudgin reports.

Completed investigation

We are told that the trust's teams have completed their investigation and have now confirmed that due to the unique design of the replacement paddles, the delivery is expected to take several weeks.

As a result, it is unable to confirm a start date for the repair works until the paddles arrive.

And the navigation remains closed

Rotton paddle

Navigation was closed on the 5th January at Lock 4 due to a rotten paddle on the towpath side bottom gate, which is now inoperable.

We are investigating repair options. Please note that the paddles are of a unique design, and if a replacement is required, sourcing specialist parts could take several weeks.
