A VOID HAS APPEARED on the Huddersfield Broad Canal.
This occurred yesterday, Wednesday, stopping all navigation, Keith Gudgin reports.
The void being between Falls Lock 8 and Red Doles Lock 9 and is in the bed of the canal.
No flow
The result being that water levels downstream cannot be maintained as there is no flow with the water simply draining away through the void.
As yet there has been no inspection so not clear how the matter will proceed.
