IT WAS WAY BACK AT THE end of October last year that the Chesterfield Canal experienced a pollution Incident.

It closing the waterway, Keith Gudgin reports.

The pollution spanned the canal from Pudding Dyke Bridge to Dog Kennel Bridge.

Six months later

Yet six months later and we are told that the navigation is still closed, with the reason being that the trust is still awaiting the results from the Environment Agency's investigations to identify the source of the pollution.

That means, we are also told, that the  current containment methods will continue to be kept in place while this is ongoing.

But what about the poor boaters that are stuck at either end of the stoppage?
