THE ENVIRONMENT AGENCY is still currently testing the lock gates of Ware Lock 2.
This is for safe operation, reports Keith Gudgin.
With the lock remaining closed, the agency tells until there is engineering assurance around its safe operation
Closed in January
It was on the 21st January that the lock was closed our being told it was to allow engineers to complete the required repairs as efficiently as possible.
Yet it is over four months since the lock was closed to navigation as unsafe to operate, and when it is safe, there may be limited and controlled opening.
In the meantime passage through the lock is suspended.
