THE Monmouthshire, Brecon & Abergavenny Canals Trust, together with the local council are undertaking a series of works designed to improve the Fourteen Locks.

Sections of the flight on the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal  have had some of the locks restored, Janet Friend reports.

14 locksNow there is further work on the locks that includes clearing silt and vegetation from the remaining unrestored locks, including relining.

New gates

A new set of lock gates has been installed at Lock 21, which will improve water retention in the locks, with more work planned along the canal in future months.

The area by the locks include the Fourteen Lock Café that has proved popular with visitors to the locks.
