TEN MILES OF THE Grand Union Canal are now closed to navigation.
This is from Camp Hill Top Lock 1 to Knowle Top Lock 52, Keith Gudgin reports.
The reason is boats were becoming stuck over the weekend through lack of water, so the trust has made the decision to close the entire section for safety.
Allow boats to proceed
By doing this, is is hoped that the ten miles of waterway will recover and allow the boats to proceed.
With the ongoing closure at Camp Hill Locks, due to a damaged gate, the trust is hoping this will allow water levels in the affected area to rise.
