THE GRAND UNION CANAL has yet another closure stopping navigation.

10 miles pound

This time its 10 miles pound between Bordesley Junction and Knowle Locks, Keith Gudgin reports.

With not much time for boaters at present on the pound to get off or those wanting to use it now have no chance, as it is closed at 3pm today, Friday.

This stoppage starts at Bordesley Junction and ends  at Knowle Top Lock 51.

Dry conditions

The trust tells it has continued to monitor the exceptionally dry conditions and the resulting impact on reservoirs.

Unfortunately, despite all its operational efforts, as rainfall has remained well below the long-term average, water levels in feeder reservoirs are continuing to fall due to canal water demands.
