THERE WAS A CLOSURE of the Leicester Section from Watford Lock 1 to Kings Lock 38.
But Canal & River Trust told that the summit section could be used, as were various locks, Keith Gudgin reports.
Closed on Monday
But today, Thursday, the trust has announced that the whole waterway from Watford Flight (pictured} to Kings Lock in Leicester will be closed to navigation on Monday—four days away.
Boaters have this time to get off the Leicester Section, but with many locks closed the trust is advising boaters to get onto the pound below Foxton Locks, that includes the Market Harborough Arm.
The trust tells that due to reduced water feeds to this section, water levels are no longer safe to navigate between Kibworth Lock 18 and Kings Lock 38.
Locks no longer operable
So on Monday 18th of next week. we are told, all locks between Kilby Lock and Kings Lock will be secured and no longer be operable.
The trust relates it focusing its efforts to create a safe haven for boaters below Foxton Flight.
