A MAN WAS DISCOVERED unresponsive and submerged in water on his narrowboat on the Oxford Canal.

ManDiesOnBoatHe was quicklly taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Janet Friend reports.

It was boaters moored nearby in Oxford that realised the boat had partially sunk and called the authorities, knowing someone was inside.

Declared dead

Despite resuscitation efforts, he was declared dead at the hospital on that day, 11th March 2025.

The 74 years' old boater, Pierre Griessenbock, suffered from schizophrenia and long-term mental health issues, the inquest heard.

Though he had access to temporary accommodation he continued to live mostly on his boat, that has been taken away and scrapped.
