TAPTON LOCK CAFE on the Chesterfield Canal in the town was reopened in late July.

TaptonLockCafeThis had been closed by the Derbyshire County Council for financial reasons but then reopened with the café providing refreshments and information on the work and history of the canal, that is undergoing restoration.

Run by the Chesterfield Canal Trust it is currently open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 3pm.

Expanded

It has now expanded giving information and selling some items of merchandise, hot drinks, ice creams, canned drinks and confectionery. The trust tells you are very welcome to come and sit, relax and chat.

Over the coming weeks and months, depending on visitors, it hopes to expand its offer.
