THE COST OF THE REPAIR to the Todbrook reservoir at Whaley Bridge has risen even more.

WhaleyBridgeWeedsAllan Richards, who has been keeping us informed, tells:

'At the May 2025 board meeting Trustees approved a further £6.8m spend on the Toddbrook repair. That brings cost to date up from £49.4m to £56.2m.'

Increased time after time

As Victor pointed out, the cost was to be £10m originally, but has been increased time after time and would increase further—as it has!

And why did in not go out to tender instead of being given direct to to Keir?  No one told.

As the work has now been redesigned as part of a three-year programme of work, there seems little doubt that the cost will increase yet again during the next three years.

The picture shows all the weeds that have grown, showing the lack of maintenance that caused the problem.
