A FURTHER 12 MILES of the Coventry Canal is now closed to navigation.

This is from Fradley Swing Bridge to Glascote Bottom Lock at Tamworth, Keith Gudgin reports.

The Canal & River Trust admits that boats are grounding along this waterway making navigation unsafe. It stating that its team is working hard to restore water levels by running water.

Already six inches down

This of course means that water has to be run down Glascote locks. But our Keith is presently in the pound above Glascote locks and tells us the water level in already six inches down.

So if water is being run down it will only serve to make that pound unavigable.
